A Muzsikáló Magyarország programsorozat és a tavaly első ízben megrendezett Dankó Pista Emléknap nem csupán a múltidézésről szól, hanem kézzelfogható támogatást is nyújt. Friss energiát visz a kávéházi cigányzene jelenébe, fellépési lehetőséget ad a zenészeknek, és felejthetetlen élményt a közönségnek.
A Muzsikáló Magyarország programsorozat és a Dankó Pista Emléknap nemcsak egyfajta tisztelgés a múlt előtt, hanem valós segítség is: új lendületet ad a kávéházi cigányzene felélesztésének, és sokak számára újra láthatóvá, hallhatóvá teszi ezt az itthon az utóbbi évtizedekben háttérbe szorult zenei világot. Tavaly mintegy száz cigányzenekar csaknem félezer muzsikusa, összesen 303 órán át, közel 80 vendéglátóhelyen zenélt június 15-én. A rendezvény szoros kapcsolatot teremtett a muzsikusok és a közönség között, élővé téve ezt a rendkívül értékes zenei hagyományt. Több zenész számára ez nemcsak egy ünnepnap volt, hanem az újrakezdést is jelentette, mivel sokuk már egy ideje nem fogott hangszert a kezében. Ők kifejezetten készültek arra, hogy most végre megint játszhattak, és a gyakorlás során természetesen a legfrissebb slágereket is lelkesen megtanulták – hátha pont azokat kéri tőlük az egyik vendég. A közönség érdeklődésének hatására a fiatalabb muzsikusok szintén azt érezhették, hogy érdemes tovább vinni ezt az örökséget, mert van rá igény, fogadókészség.

The Musical Hungary programme series and the Pista Dankó Memorial Day, held for the first time last year, are not only about remembering the past, but they also provide tangible support. They bring fresh energy to present-day coffee house Gypsy music, give musicians a performance opportunity and an unforgettable experience for the audience.
The Musical Hungary programme series and the Pista Dankó Memorial Day are not only a kind of tribute to the past but also real help: they give new impetus to the revival of coffee house Gypsy music and make this musical world – pushed into the background in Hungary in recent decades – once again visible and audible for many people. On the 15th of June last year, almost half a thousand musicians from about a hundred Gypsy bands played music for a total of 303 hours in nearly 80 restaurants. The event created a close connection between the musicians and the audience, bringing this extremely valuable musical tradition to life. For several musicians, this was not just celebration but also a new beginning, as many of them had not played an instrument for some time. They were really looking forward to playing again, and during practice, of course, they were happy to learn the latest hits – just in case one of the guests might ask the musicians to play them. Seeing the audience’s interest, young musicians may also have felt that it is worth carrying on this legacy because there is a demand for it and a willingness to accept it.
On the 14th of June, all of Hungary will be celebrating Pista Dankó’s birthday. On this day, traditional Gypsy music will be played on the terraces of restaurants, coffee houses and bars in many parts of the country. Bands of selected Gypsy musicians will revive the era when hospitality was accompanied with music.
